Rusty Eskew

Shelby, NC: “Rusty” Edwin Earl Eskew, 67, passed away on July 27, 2024. Rusty had a desire for helping others learn about Jesus and His forgiveness. Rusty also had a passion for music. He used music to lead worship at numerous churches in Cleveland County as well as in the prison ministry. His deep love and service to the Lord was evident and he loved to share that with others. Rusty was a friend and father figure to many people, both young and old. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Thomas Eskew and step mother, Betty Eskew; grandparents, Inez and Earl Eskew and Rena and Ernest McGinnis. Rusty is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gay Hodges Eskew; his two children, Josh Eskew (Kristen) and Kaitlyn Middlebrooks (Chanez); four grandchildren, JaIssac Middlebrooks, Sofie Middlebrooks, McKinley Middlebrooks, and Chanez Middlebrooks II; his mother, Pat Eskew; and sister, Renae King (James). A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday August 3, 2024, 3:00 pm, at Christ Covenant Ministries 1050 Sam Lattimore Road Shelby NC 28152. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Rusty Eskew’s name to Grace It Up, 407 Summit Ave., Charlotte, NC 28208 or 4given & Free 2001 Hermit Trail, Newton, NC 28658.
