Ruth Davis Darnell

SHELBY- Mrs. Ruth Kathleen Davis Darnell, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 10th, 2010 at Carolina Care of Cherryville. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Edward “Ed” and Annie Newman Davis. She retired from Doran Textiles and was a member of New Bethel Church of Shelby. Mrs. Darnell enjoyed cooking and looking after others.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odis Howard Darnell; three sons Howard, Harold, and Harry Darnell; four brothers Edward, Ben, Arthur, Worth, and Jeff Darnell; five sisters Irene McSwain, Sally Traylor, Mattie Tyner, Marie Gamble, and Etta Davis.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her six grandchildren Sheila Spangler of Boiling Springs, Michael Darnell of Shelby, Amy Emery of Shelby, Jonathan Darnell of Boiling Springs, Danny Darnell of Shelby, and Tony Darnell of Spruce Pine; seven great-grandchildren Garrett Spangler of Charlotte, Mikaela Darnell, Drew Darnell, Parker Emery, Gracie Emery, Alexandria Darnell, all of Shelby, and Antonia “Tony” Darnell of Maiden; and a daughter in law and caregiver Helen Darnell of Shelby.

SERVICES: The funeral will be held 11am Wednesday, Oct. 13th, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

VISITATION: The family will receive friend Tuesday 6:00-7:30 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

BURIAL: Will follow in Sunset Cemetery
