Samuel "Sam" Max Christopher

February 22, 1927 — October 17, 2007

GROVER- Mr. Samuel “Sam” Max Christopher, 80, of Grover, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Home. A native of Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William Hendricks and Nellie Maud Cudd Christopher. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from the Lily Mill. Mr. Christopher loved to play softball, and loved to farm. He raised and boarded horses and was known for his story telling.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, W.H. “Red” Christopher, Jr. and a sister, Doris Christopher McKee.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 62 years, Betty Woods Christopher of the home; two daughters, Cathy Arnold and husband, Ernest of Spartanburg, SC, and Carmen Coles and husband, George, of Oak Island; a brother, Woodrow Christopher and wife, Margaret of Shelby; six grandchildren, Holly Arnold Sanders M.D. and husband, Jon, of Charlottesville,VA, Mary Arnold Kury and husband, Todd of Spartanburg, SC, Carol Arnold Griffin and husband, Brian, of Jacksonville, Fla, Miriam Coles of Tallahassee, Fla., Samuel Coles of Raleigh, and Sarah Arnold of Spartanburg, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Max Anthony Griffin and Virginia Rose Kury.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at the home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2007 at Bethel Baptist Church.

BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Dr. Tim Sims, Dr. J.M. Ezell, Rev. Mel Campos and Dr. James M. Manning
