SHELBY: Sara Proctor Chaney, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 30, 2017 after years of living with the challenges of Alzheimer’s. She was born in Cherokee Co., SC to the late Samuel and Dollie Connor Proctor. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother who enjoyed walking about and traveling. After living in Shelby, NC for 29 years, Sara moved to Florida to be close to her son and daughter-in-law.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Anzen Barney Chaney; son Rodney Chaney; one grandchild; and three brothers.
SURVIVED: She is survived by her sons, Chris Chaney and wife Siti of Malaysia, and David Chaney and wife JoAnn of Milton, Fl.; sister, Roberta Ellison of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby
FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church
OFFICIATING: Dr. B Irvin Price
BURIAL: will be at Gaston Memorial Park immediately following the service.
