Sherri Preston

SHELBY, NC– Sherri Nichols Preston, aged 44, passed away in Gastonia, NC on March 9, 2025. She was born on September 7, 1980, in Newport News, VA, and throughout her life, Sherri brought warmth and devotion to her family and friends.

A beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Sherri's love for her family was evident in all aspects of her life. Her grandchildren were her utmost priority, and she found immense joy in spending cherished moments with them. An avid reader and writer, Sherri found solace and delight in the written word, often sharing stories and creating memories with those she loved most.

Sherri was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Lattimore.

She is preceded in death by her father, Henry Nichols Jr., and her beloved daughter, Cassie Conard. Sherri's memory will be forever treasured by her surviving family: her mother, Pat Nichols of Shelby; her daughter, Kaitlynn Lynn and husband Joshua of Shelby; her brothers, Daniel Nichols and wife Danyel of Grover and Eddie Nichols and wife Ashley of Forest City. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Leilani Conard, Nevaeh Little, and James Lynn, who were the light of her life.

To honor Sherri's memory, an informal gathering will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Sunset Cemetery, near the grave of her daughter Cassie. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate a life filled with love and dedication.
