Shirley Barton

SHELBY: Shirley Morgan Barton, 86, died Thursday, April 13, 2023 at her home. Born in Cherokee County, SC she was the daughter of the late Dever and Leila Traylor Morgan. Shirley graduated from Shelby High School and retired from Piedmont Natural Gas in Charlotte. She enjoyed music, dancing and working in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Pearson, Lee Morgan, Frances Bridges, Nell Morgan, Barbara Morgan, Sylvia Morgan, Lily Mae Morgan and Millicent Greene; and brothers, Joe and Bobby Morgan. She is survived by her son, Dennis Blanton and wife Lisa of Shelby; grandchildren, Leslie Kale and husband Ryan and Mitch Blanton and wife Ashley; grandchildren, Taylor Kale and fiancé Austin Ropp, Colby and Sam Kale, Bailey Bridges, Zoe Blanton and Companion Mon’Drevious Black and Sylas Blanton; and great-great-grandchild, Tatum Resse Black. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with Joey Hamrick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, in the funeral home.
