Shirley McEntyre Carroll

SHELBY- Shirley Carroll, a beloved mother and “Maw-Maw”, ran into the arms of Jesus on April 19,

2025, at Testa Hospice House in Kings Mountain at the age of 83. Born on November 29, 1941, in

Rutherford County, North Carolina, Shirley touched the lives of many with her warm heart and gentle

spirit.

Shirley’s pride and joy were her family. She loved to cook for them and always had the special touch of

rocking and humming her grandbabies and great-grandbabies to sleep. Before her health declined, she

was always up for a shopping trip or going out to eat with her family.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dora McEntyre; her husband, Paul "Junior"

Carroll; her daughters, Tammy Darlene McCullough, Vickie Smith, and Donna Pack; her brothers,

Kenneth Gilbert, Junior McEntyre, and Joel McEntyre; her sisters, Margie Archer and Evelyn White;

and her grandsons, Christopher Lee Philbeck, David Allen Philbeck, and Kenny Wayne Parris.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy of never-ending love through her surviving family: her daughter,

Sandy Hunt and husband Dennis; her grandchildren, Gloria Truett and husband Chris, Walter Smith and

wife Sierra, Jason Ruppe, Victoria Smith, and Jasmine Hunt; and her great-grandchildren, Cierra Hyland

and husband Alijah, David Smith, Serena Smith, and Mia Smith.

A funeral service to honor Shirley's life will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Clay-

Barnette, with Pastor Curtis McDaniel officiating. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest at

Cleveland Memorial Park.

Shirley's warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever remain

in the hearts of those she touched. The family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love and

support during this difficult time.
