SHELBY- Ms. Syble Gurley Baber, 86, of 512 Woodside Dr., died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at home. A native of Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Arthur and Betty Campbell Gurley. Ms. Baber was a weaver in the textile industry. She enjoyed working with children at the YMCA day care, enjoyed quilting, and loved to travel.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Baber, and three sons, Michael, Ben and Bobby Baber.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by a son, Ken Baber and wife, Becky of Thousand Oaks, CA; two daughters, Patty Baber of Shelby and Sharon Bates of Camarillo, CA; a sister, Tina Lou Jordan of Chuckey, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Richard and Chris Bates, Angela, David and Jonathan Fagg, Russell Baber, Shandra Morton, and Bennett and Daniel Baber; seven great-grandchildren, Addie Rudisill, Madison, Garrett and Carson Bates, Chelsea and Kaylee Morton and Ashley Turner; several nieces and nephews; and a special former son-in-law, Mike Fagg.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
