BLACKSBURG: Terry “Spanky” Panther, 60, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Greensboro. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Marvin and Rebecca Wooley Panther. Spanky worked many years as an iron worker and superintendent. He was a founding charter member of CBA, and a member of CCIB. He was an avid donor of the Jace Man run for the abused children in Cleveland County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wendy Blanton Panther; son, Benjamin Trent Bowling; and father-in-law, Kenny Blanton. He is survived by his brothers, Dennis Panther and wife Jill of Greenville, TN and Scott Panther and wife Sharon of Shelby; granddaughter, Hunter McKinley Bowling of NY; mother-in-law, Pat Blanton of Shelby; goddaughter, Melissa Telenko of Denver, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 3:00 PM to 212 Independent Way, Mooresboro, where Pastor Mike Gettys will officiate Spanky’s memorial.
