SHELBY- Mr. Thurman Joe Williams, 73, of 721 Ed Hamrick Rd., died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Coleman and Ola Davis Williams. He retired from PPG Industries after 36 years as a forklift operator and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Doris Ruth Clary Williams; a son, Jeff Williams; one sister; and two brothers.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by two sons Willie Williams and wife Lynn of Kings Mountain, Ronnie Williams and wife Kathy of Shelby; four daughters Debbie Williams of Lawndale, Dinese Harth and husband Mike of Spartanburg, SC, Tina Williams of Shelby, and Teresa Robinson and husband John of Kure Beach, NC; a sister Sarah Williams of Cherryville; two brothers Jessie Williams and wife Barbara of Swainsville, James “Butch” Williams of Cherryville, nine grandchildren, Willie, Scott, Ryan, Michael, Tiffany, Ashley, Austin, Bridgett, and Kristin.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Friday, May 15 from 11:30-1pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
SERVICE: The funeral will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009, 1:00pm, in the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
CLERGY: Rev. Allen Davis will be officiating
