Todd Carpenter

SHELBY: Todd Carpenter, 62, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Cleveland County, he was preceded in death by his birth father, Ronald Melton Carpenter; father, David Travis Sr. and mother, Judy Langley Travis. Todd was a 1980 graduate of Crest High School and served in the Marines from 1980 to 1991. He was a Desert Storm Veteran and was an active member of the Foothills Marine Corp. League, where he served as Chaplain. Todd was also a member of the Military Order of The Devil Dogs and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He enjoyed fly fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Heather Rhom Carpenter of the home; son, Justin Carpenter; daughter, Carrigan Huskey, both of Shelby; sisters, Susan Litaker and husband Rick of Charlotte and Shannon Davis and husband Perry of Kings Mountain; brothers, David Travis Jr. and wife Lisa of Shelby and Kevin Travis and wife Danielle Baratta Travis of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Cheyanee Carpenter, Savannah Carpenter, Dakota Carpenter, Mason Carpenter and Huntlee Lail. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Trexler, Rev. Allen Davis and Rev. Tom Hill officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 P.M., prior to the service, in the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made Foothills Marine Corp.
