Tommie Doster

SHELBY-William Thomas “Tommie” Doster Jr., 82, passed away at Cherokee Medical Center of Gaffney on Tuesday, May 11,2021. Born in York County, SC, on March 13,1939, he was the son of the late WT Sr. & Bea Breakfield Doster. He was self-employed auto mechanic at Payseours garage in Shelby for 63 years. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, and taking care of his goats. The family would like to thank the staff of Cherokee Medical Center and Hospice of Spartanburg for their care of Tommie. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Hankel, Bobby, Jack, Jerry and Bill Doster; sister, Peggy Elmore. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Jefferey Doster and girlfriend Dare Hathcock and Robert Daryl Doster and wife Karen all of Shelby; brothers, Jim & John Doster; sisters, Linda Powell and Betty Booth; grandchildren, Jennifer and Sam McAbee and their daughter, Paige of Lake lure, Matt and Cortney Doster and their son, Lucas of Kings Mountain, Kimmie and Austin Heatherly of Casar, Jennifer Thomas of Charlotte, Corey and Jessica Doster and their sons, Eli Lail and Austyn Doster of Boiling Springs and Cassidy Doster and Austin Harrison of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2pm, Friday, May 14, 2021, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Padgett officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
