SHELBY- Mr. Truman Melton, 76, of 150 Valentine Dr., died Tues., Sept. 14th, 2010 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. A native of Spartanburg Cty, SC, he was the son of the late James Floyd and Nancy Rogers Melton. Truman served in the Army and was a graduate of Clemson University where he always remained an avid Tiger fan. He was a textile plant manager where he worked for Burlington Industries in NC, VA, and then England, Wales and France while living in the U.K. He later worked for Doran Textiles, then retiring with Artee Industries. While living in Western N.C. Truman was active in the Jaycee’s, Lions Club, and served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross. He had a love for his boxers and was a true sports fan.
PRECEDED- In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brother Buck Melton.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rosemary Raybon Melton of the home; two sons, Mike Melton and wife Kathy of Shelby, Scott Melton of Spartanburg; one daughter Mickie Williams and husband Brian of Spartanburg; two step sons Carey Odom and wife Karen of Hope Mills, NC, and Chris Holder of St. Pauls , NC; sister, Evelyn Warren and husband Charles of Boiling Springs, SC; 4 Grandchildren, Trey Earley of Columbia, Amanda Melton of Gastonia, Carlin Odom of Clinton, NC, and Meagan Williams of Spartanburg; and a special person who was like an adopted grandson, Charles Laughlin of Greenville, NC.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held 11am Friday, Sept. 17th at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home
