Velma Barrett

SHELBY- Mrs. Velma Marlow Barrett, 83, of 1586 Kings Rd., died Sun., Jan. 16th, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Floyd County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Fannie Collins Marlow. She was the owner/operator of Velma’s Hair Styling.


PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Wilbur Hord and Pat Barrett; a daughter, Judy Hord; and two brothers, Franklin and Jeff Marlow.

SURVIVED: She is survived by one sister, Vina Causby of Shelby; three brothers, Robert Marlow and wife Diane of Dallas, Charles Alfred Marlow and wife Virginia and Edward Marlow and wife Cecelia, all of Shelby; caregiver, Cathy Smith of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews.


SERVICES: A graveside service will be held 2pm Wednesday at Rosehill Memorial Park

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-7:30pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
