SHELBY- Mrs. Viola Casanova Perez, 97, formerly of Ridge St., died Friday, November 12, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Las Villas, Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Rafael and Luz Rodriguez Casanova. Viola was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church. She belonged to American Association of University Women, Numerous Spanish Educational Organizations, and she was also a Professor Emeritus at Brevard College.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Mario P. Perez, brother, Rafael Casanova; sisters, Ninfa C. Riestra, Carmen C. Martinez, Gladys C. Solis, and Olga Casanova.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her daughter Viola Perez Talley and husband Bud of Shelby, sister, Glaucia C. Remington and husband Robert of Poway, CA; Roberto H. Casanova of Las Villas, Cuba; three grandchildren, Eric M. Talley, and wife Jerrie of Rock Hill, Kirk E. Talley of Shelby, and Alex R. Talley and wife Rachel of Clover; and two great grandchildren, Lauren and Abby Talley.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Sunday, November 14, 3-4:30pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held, 12pm, Monday, November 15,at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
