Virgil Church

May 27, 1931 — September 22, 2013

SHELBY- Mr. Virgil Church, 82, of Cabaniss Dr., went to be with his Lord, Sun., Sept. 22, 2013, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Norman and Pearl Short Church. He attended Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church in Blacksburg, and retired from Duke Energy after 40 years of service. He was the founder of Church Auto Parts, Boundless Miracles, Boundless Home Care, and Boundless Transportation. He fielded many record holding drag cars. He loved to run his beagles in field trials, and has one dog in the Hall of Fame today. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee”Tonk”, Buster, and Ray Church; two sisters, Ivy Walker and Laura”Snook” Flowers.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 62 ½ years, Delores Stapleton Church of the home; son, Ronnie Church; daughter, Jill Miller and husband Billy “Butch”; four sister, Vernie Jones, Earlene Newman and husband Don, Joyce Fitch, Helen Smith; brother, Billy Joe Church; four grandchildren, Joshua and Luke Miller, Matti Lu and Abbi Pearl Church, all of Shelby; and a special friend, Billy Whetstine of Surfside Beach, SC.

SERVICES: 2PM, Wednesday, at Bethel Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8PM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at his home.

CLERGY: Dr. Jack Fox and Rev. Gregg Martin

BURIAL: Sunset Cemetery
