SHELBY- Virginia Kay Clary, a cherished member of the Cleveland County community, was called home on February 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 28, 1941, in Cleveland County, Virginia spent her life deeply rooted in the community that she held dear.
A devoted servant to her faith, Virginia was an esteemed member of New Bethel Church of Shelby, where she worshipped fervently as a dedicated prayer warrior. Her life was a testament to her love for her church and her unwavering commitment to her family, who were always the center of her world.
Virginia's legacy is carried on through her loving family: her sons, JD Clary Jr. and wife Shannon, and Robert Clary and wife Tammy; her daughters, Diane Clary and fiancé Tim Smith, and Sondra "Trixie" Carter and husband Harry. She also leaves behind her sister, Pauline Turner, and her brothers, Charlie Sanders and Billy Sanders. Virginia was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Andrea Kay Humble, Sherrie Kay Whaley, Lee Clary, Susie Putnum, Jonathan Clary, Cole Clary, JoJo Clary, Hannah Collins, Kenzie Wright, Patrick Carter, Virginia Hester, and Phillip Pruitt Jr., and she was further blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by those she now joins in eternal peace: her beloved parents Albert and Ocie Sanders; her husband JD Clary; her children Terry Joe and Martha Ann; her brothers Grady Sanders and Harold Sanders; her grandson Jeffery Clary; and her great-grandson Nathan Hester.
Virginia shared a special bond of friendship and fellowship with her best friend Pat Willis, who stood by her side through life's many seasons.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 3:30 PM at New Bethel Church of Shelby, officiated by Pastor Mark Patchett.
