Wanda Mcmurry

SHELBY: Wanda Ligon McMurry, 84, died Friday, September 8, 2023 at her home. Born in Cherokee County, SC she was the daughter of the late Grady and Ruth Carroll Ligon. Wanda enjoyed gardening and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She worked as a Paralegal for John Church for 40 years. She was an inspiration to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Phillip McMurry. She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Thomas of Shelby and Lynn Potter and husband Jerry of New Bern; sister, Donna Coyle; brothers, Randy Ligon and Rodney Ligon, all of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Megan Tilley, Logan Potter, Marley Potter and Garrett Thomas; and three great-grandchildren. No formal services are planned at this time. Funeral arrangements and Aquamation services are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and Aquamation Center.
