Wayne Brevard Hunt

SHELBY: Wayne Brevard Hunt, 97, died Monday, March 13, 2023 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Ophas and Ethel Deveny Hunt. Wayne served in the Army, and later with the Airforce, during WWII and The Korean War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was the oldest living member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nettie Lou Sides Hunt; second wife, Mabel Hamrick Hunt; and his children, Wayne Hunt, Sheila Cole and Danny Hunt. He is survived by his eight grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. J. Eric Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
