SHELBY- Mr. William “Bill” Wright, Sr., 95, of 709 Smith Street, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at White Oak Manor of Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Jessie Burton Wright, Sr. and Alice Philbeck Wright. He was an apartment complex maintenance engineer and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Parlee Liptrap Wright, a son, William Wright, Jr., two brothers, Zay and Ben Wright, and four sisters, Mattie Lee Ivie, Myrtle Wright, Lala Bailey and Gazzie Kale.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by a daughter, Teresa Round of the home; a sister, Gussie Sue Morrison, of Shelby; two brothers, J.B. Wright, Jr. and Tom Wright and wife, Frances, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will be in National Memorial Cemetery, in Falls Church, Virginia.
