MOORESBORO- Mr. William “Worth” Powell, 73, of 2303 Camp Creek Church Road, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Richard Vew and Luna Mode Powell. He was a member of Camps Creek Baptist Church, owner and operator of Powell’s Green House, and was the ground superintendent for Cleveland Memorial Park for thirty years.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son William Eugene Powell and brother, Eugene Powell.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel Spencer Powell of the home; son Rick Powell and wife Becky, of Mooresboro; daughter Libby Peace and husband Talmadge of Mooresboro; step-daughter Denise Jones and husband Nelson of Gaffney; two sisters Vollie Sue and husband George Dopkawski of Ocean City, MD, and Ruby Gearleen Earls of Shelby, five grandchildren, Brian Pierce of Gaffney, Bryan Powell of Shelby, Brooks Jones of Gaffney, Jesse Powell of Mooresboro, and Brittany Jones of Gaffney.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 1, from 6-8pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
SERVICE: Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 4pm at Camps Creek Baptist Church. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service.
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Camps Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
CLERGY: Rev. Dennis Hester will be officiating
