Willie Hawkins

SHELBY-Mrs. Willie Deaton Hawkins, age 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 30,2021. Born in Rutherford County on April 25,1924, to the Late Minor Harrison and Zeffa Williams Deaton. She was a life long member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a seamstress at universal manufacturing Co. for 43 years. She loved quilting, bird watching and find a word puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James William Hawkins; daughter, Barbara Reynolds; son, Richard Hawkins; a son in law, Alan Reynolds; 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her son, Roger Hawkins and wife Sylvia of Shelby; daughters, Diane Sarratt and husband Dan of Rome, GA, and Carol Dean and husband Lynn of Kings Mountain; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Biggerstaff.
A graveside service will be held 11am, Saturday, October 2,2021 in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Andy Oliver and Rev. Jim Richardson officiating
